Maybe I'm just doing something dumb, but I can't get past the title screen of the FDS Zelda. Action 52 still doesn't get past the game starting screen, though. It had a lot of graphical corruption before, and I've no idea why it's fixed now. I reinstalled Mednafen, and now Bishoujo Control works, oddly enough. Sorry for the false alarm - I guess I should always check results myself first. I also went and checked the overscan on the real NES on no less than three separate TVs in my house (one of which is a high-quality Sony WEGA) and the results were pretty close to Mednafen's. But loading up Nestopia briefly, it does the same thing that Mednafen does in the default configuration. I was looking at the pictures from a real NES and Nestopia in this thread and assumed they were correct. Turns out I was wrong about the overscan. If you need screenshots, let me know.Īs to the sound issue, is that possibly an NTSC vs PAL issue?īishoujo Control and FDS Zelda no Densetsu work fine for me. One more thing I noticed, upon further review: does Mednafen cut off some of the pixels on the 4 sides of the screen? It seems to do this in my comparison of Mednafen and a real NES. For the record, I'm running Windows XP with the pre-built binary, an Athlon 64 3500+, 1 GB RAM, and a Radeon 9800 Pro (it's old, I know ). Let me know if you need more info or would like me to beta-test anything. It says Action 52 is supported under the mappers section, so I figure it's reasonable to mention even though it's unlicensed. It loads the intro and menus fine, but when I try to play any of the games I just get a black screen. Another laugher I tried to play was Action 52. I know it's just an FDS pirate and all, so I understand if it's not supposed to work, but I figure I'd mention it anyway. I tried to play the infamous Bishojou Control for a laugh, but the game is unplayable. I tried to run the FDS Zelda, and the graphics and sound were great, but I couldn't do anything in-game after it had loaded, like it was ignoring input. I didn't notice any trends as to when it would happen, though - sorry I can't be more helpful on this one. I know this happens with other ways of quitting but I did not see this bug mentioned. Even using F12 to quit occasionally froze the emulator. I didn't play very far in, so there might be other inaccuracies too. If you need me to log sound from the real game for comparison, just ask. They sound too tinny and at the wrong pitch. I checked with the real game, and the punch sounds and death sounds for the guards and dogs are off. Sound was just about dead-on in every game except for Metal Gear. Thanks for all your hard work and effort. Most of the glitches are even emulated properly. I tried about 50 or so games briefly, most of which I own personally, and with a good palette most are all but indistinguishable from the real thing for me.
